Project: SoConnect

SoConnect is a contact management and task management desktop app that aims to help NUS SoC students stay better connected to their school life, both in terms of social connections and school tasks. To better cater to NUS SoC students, SoConnect is optimized for use via a Command Line Interface (CLI) while still having the benefits of a Graphical User Interface (GUI). SoConnect has around 42 kLoC. SoConnect is written in Java and uses JavaFX.

Given below are my contributions to the project.

  • Enhancements implemented:
    • Customise Hide Feature: Added the ability to hide contacts’ information.
      • What it does: Allows the user to hide certain information of all contacts displayed.
      • Justification: This feature improves the product significantly because a user can focus on certain information.
      • Highlights: This enhancement affects the user interface. It required an in-depth analysis of different possible implementations and understanding of the implementation of the user interface.

      • Justification: This feature improves the product significantly because a user can see information they consider more important above other information.
      • Highlights: This enhancement affects the user interface. It required an in-depth analysis of different possible implementations and understanding of the implementation of the user interface.
    • Adjustments to User Interface: Made adjustments to the user interface.
      • Highlights: This enhancement affects the user interface. It required an in-depth analysis of what a user would prefer.
